Leontyna Halpertowa, née Eleonora Halpertowa z Żuczkowskich (Puławy, 14 April 1803 – Warsaw, 19 March 1895), was a Polish stage actress and translator. She belonged to the most famous actors in Poland of her time. == Biography ==
She debuted in Warsaw in 1821. Under the Bonaventure Kudlicza, she torued in Płock, Poznań and Kalisz. From 1824 to 1851, she was active at the government theatres of Warshaw as well as an instructor in the theatre school in Warshaw. She was one of the most famous actors in Poland of the day, and was described as talanted and beautiful; she was considered as an artist of an immense talent level, gaining the most outstanding reputation in Poland. She played both comic and tragic roles, and was admire for her recitation. She was regarded as a beauty ideal. She is also known for translating to the Polish theater plays from the French language. She introduced a reform of theatrical diction in the direction of simplicity to the Polish theater.
